Slot Molding Aluminum Trim, 6'- Choose EVEN or UNEVEN Lip
This shiny polished aluminum trim is designed to hide body seams on the trailer, it's decorative & looks professional. Installs with rivets placed in the flat center area between the slots. Vinyl insert is installed in the center slotted space to cover the rivets.
Choose your product: Where there is an upper curve involved, such as where the roof meets the side walls, choose the product with an uneven lip (as shown on left). For flat seams, choose the product with an even lip (both lips are exactly the same). Both are 1 1/8" wide.
This trim can be bent around a gentle curve. Slot molding trim is sold in 6 foot sections. Because of shipping, scratches are common for this product & can be buffed out with rubbing compound and/or a bench grinder with a buffing wheel.
There is a $3 OFC (over-size freight charge) for each 6' piece shipped (the tubes are 6' long).
There are usually three pieces to this project. Once the molding with the slot is applied to the trailer, there is a 1" wide, long piece of colored pliable vinyl trim that is inserted into the slot, call vinyl insert. After the vinyl insert is installed, finish the project with an aluminum end cap at the ends. This looks neat & professional.
Trail Pals tip: It is better to "pinch" the insert into place, rather than pull it through with a pliers, because pulling it through will stretch it. That is why you sometimes will see a 4 inch gap at the ends where the insert eventually has shrunk and snapped away from the end cap.
