Ramp Assist Springs, Hinge Mount for 1" OD Shaft

These heavy-duty ramp assist springs are designed to fit onto the ramp hinge shaft. They can become slack with age & sometimes need replacement. These springs will fit on a 1" OD" diameter shaft. They are made slightly larger, because they will get smaller when torque is applied. When you are standing behind the trailer looking at the ramp, the left-hand springs are on your left, the right-hand springs are on your right.

Coils:11 of 7/16" steel alloy

Spring body: 2 1/8" W X 5" L

Tails: inside: 5 1/2" L--outside: 5 1/8" L

Weight: 2 lbs, 15 oz. each

Torque: 3278 pounds/inch

Excellent quality springs. For those interested in determining if the spring strength is correct for your application, I wanted to share my experience. I have a 48 tall trailer ramp, that when lowered to the ground weighed 75 lbs at that rests on the ground. Since this ramp is hinged and supported on one end, and the other weights 75 lobs, the total ramp weight would be 150 lbs. I used two of these springs which when the trailer tailgates is opened fully (approx 105 degrees) the tailgate rests on the ground with about 5 lbs of weight. I

This is my 2nd set of 1" shaft assist springs from trail pals, very happy with them. @ "retired's" review - my first set was for 80-100# single piece ramps and one spring per ramp was the perfect amount of assist. The new set I just ordered is for heavy duty tri-fold equipment ramps that weigh 250# each. I don't have room for 3 springs, but 2 will be better than nothing.

I like the looks of these springs and would buy them if I knew the in/lbs weight per degree of travel. I am adding torsion springs to my hinged ramps and can't use springs that I need mac truck to push and hold ramp down and / or don't want them so light that I'm lifting full weight of the ramp. If Trail Pals would simply list the ramp weight for their springs. So if you can help please use this info: ramps weigh 100 lbs each are 60" long (5ft) and I have 1" shaft. the ramps hinged down and end resting on a scale weigh 49.6 lbs each. Torsion Springs

Thanks for the help on getting the right springs. I have a 160 lbs, 5’ long ramp. Added 2 of the torsion springs for a 1” shaft. Worked great. Thought about adding a 3rd spring but thinking it might be to much.
