 Keyed Cam Latches

Replaces your old cam bar latch with a newer, easier & more secure KEYED cam latch system.

The Keyed Cam Latch is a secure latch and lock all in one system! The exterior is made from die-cast aluminum and internal working components are of stainless steel. It is available in three powder-coated finishes: White, Black & Silver.

The cam bar slides down into the beveled entry jaw and opens the bar lock lever. Then then as it slides down farther, the bar lock lever securely closes and retains the bar. Super-safe for your animals, it cannot open without manually pulling the bar lock lever forward. The top 2 mounting screws are covered by the cam bar for a theft deterrent.

*Your entire order of keyed cam latches units will be keyed alike, unless specified otherwise. 

*The bar lock lever will hold up to a 1 1/4" tall and 3/8" thick cam bar. The keyed cam latch may not completely cover the old cam bar latch holes in the door. Usually, one hole is left showing at the top. This can be closed by inserting a sheet metal screw left over from the old cam latch back into the hole.

SPECS: The entire height is 6”. Top area (which will be under the cam bar handle when closed) is 3 ½” wide with the screw hole centers placed down 1 /12” from the top. Upper screw centers are 2 13/16 apart. The lower center screw center is placed 5 3/16” from the top, and 13/16” from the bottom of the latch.

Three #14 flat head sheet metal screws will fasten each new keyed cam latch, but we recommend that you attach the keyed cam latches with a machine screw and jack nut to create a better anchor. Both are available below or on the FASTENER page.

*The bar lock lever will hold up to a 1 1/4" tall and 3/8" thick cam bar. The keyed cam latch may not completely cover the old cam bar latch holes in the door. Also known as a Junior-size Paddle Latch, it's the standard size for replacing a door handle and latch in one piece on a one-thickness trailer door. A sliding bolt is attached to the back.

Flush Mount Latch Replacement LOCK CYLINDER 

Works for this size latch, with the lock cylinder installed in the "paddle " handle:

Steel replacement lock cylinder, with key. Your Flush Mount Latch must look exactly like one in the bottom picture.  Also known as a paddle latch. When latch is unlocked, pull the paddle handle forward, & look behind it, at the back of the lock cylinder. There must be A FLAT RIVET END protruding from the silver locking tab, not a screw head. Comes with a nut for fastening.

(Your locksmith can sell you the more common type of lock cylinder with a screw head protruding, but he probably doesn't have these.)

Use to change the locks when buying a used trailer, or if you loose your trailer keys, or buy a used trailer with no keys for the locks. Easier & less expensive than replacing the entire flush mount latch. We can key multiples alike upon request.

"L" Handle - Non Locking

Commonly paired  with a separate slam latch as a door fastener on trailers. 5/16" square shaft. Door thickness doesn't matter---after inserting shaft through door into a slam latch, just saw off any remaining length of shaft (3 1/2" shaft). 1 3/4" screw centers. XL Cam Bar Handle w/  Weldable Bracket-Steel

This is a larger-than-standard steel cam bar door handle, with a bend in it.  The XL handle (including bracket)  is 14" long, 1 1/4" wide and 3/8" thick. The handle moves up & down, fastened with a pre-installed bolt to a steel bracket. The flat side of the bracket welds to a vertical pipe. The XL cam bar works with either of the two XL cam hasps sold above, or either of the two keyed cam latches sold at the top of this page.

You will commonly find this XL cam bar attached to larger horse trailers, such as living quarter trailers & 4, 5 & 6 horse slants and many large steel & aluminum horse haulers.

The cam bar grip in the correct size for this cam bar (3/8"thick) is sold separately below.

Cam Bar Handle, Bracket & Grip--Aluminum

Example ONLY, paired with white keyed cam latch

The handle is 15 3/4" long (measured from the edge of hinge to the tip of the grip) X 1 1/4" wide X 1/4" thick. The mounting bracket is 5 3/4" tall X 1 3/8" wide X 3/16" thick. The hinge moves easily out of the way 180 degrees when opening the door. The handle moves up & down with a pre-installed bolt. This latches with either of the two standard cam bar hasps sold above, or either of the two keyed cam latches. Universal--can be mounted on left or right.

We are not recommending this handle for rear   doors of horse trailers, but it could be used to fasten  tack room doors, escape doors or cargo trailer doors.

The "OLD STYLE" 3-Piece Butterfly Latch- for doors

BLB: The handle attaches by a welded bolt to a to a 2" wide X 38" long flat vertical steel bar that has a pre-drilled matching bolt hole placed slightly off-center at exactly  19", to attach to the BLH. This bar is in turn welded to a vertical continuous door hinge. Not Pictured.

BLC: The catch is 1 1/4" wide, and  must be welded to the trailer door. It catches the handle bar & so it can hold the door closed.

Cam Latch System, Universal- for Doors

Makes an entire cam latch system when adding a 3/4" ID pipe. Pipe must be welded.

14 pieces. Consists of : One steel cam bar handle, bracket & grip: one cam latch hasp, 1-piece; Four pipe holders, top & four pipe holders, bottom; One cam latch keeper cup, top & one cam latch keeper cup, bottom: One cam latch pipe lug, top & one cam latch pipe lug, bottom. Keepers & lugs are made of malleable iron.

Cam Latch Pipe Holder, TOP & BOTTOM

This part holds 3/4" ID vertical pipe in place and should be paired together, in order to fully protect the paint on the door. Typically, 2, 3 or  4 sets of pipe holders are used in a system. Polished steel.

Cam Latch Keeper Cup, TOP

This part catches the TOP lug when closing the cam latch. Made of malleable iron.

Cam Latch Pipe Lug, TOP

This part inserts into the 3/4" ID vertical pipe at the top (weld-on) and fastens into the top keeper cup when shutting the door. Made of malleable iron.

Total 3" tall, protrudes 1 1/2" from top of pipe, Top of lug is 1 7/8" wide.

Cam Latch Pipe Lug, BOTTOM

This part inserts into the 3/4" ID vertical pipe at the top (weld-on) and fastens into the bottom keeper cup when shutting the door. Made of malleable iron.

Total 3" tall, protrudes 1 1/2" from top of pipe, Top of lug is 1 7/8" wide.

Cam Latch Side Door Assembly

This door latch is commonly used on tack doors of horse trailers. Comes complete with 36" long, 3/4" ID pipe welded to hinges & handle.

Handle included: This is a steel cam bar door handle, with a bend in it.  The handle is 14" long, 1 1/4" tall and 1/4" thick. (Same as CLBHS, sold above).

Vinyl grip included.

Hasp Included:  The bolt centers are 4 5/16" apart, and the top bolt holds the hinged top piece that swings to trap the cam bar behind it.  The total length is 5 1/8" and total width is 2". (Same as CLHP2, sold above).

When installed properly, the pipe lays flush to the door when the door is fastened closed. The integrity of this product is compromised when the hinges are bent after market.

The hasp can be upgraded to a Keyed Cam Latch sold at the top of this page.

Vinyl End Cap for 3/4" ID Pipe

This vinyl end cap is used to seal the end of a 3/4" inner diameter pipe, primarily to prevent rust. It fits down inside the pipe.

Spring-Loaded Latches 

Commonly used to secure loading ramps, dividers and folding rear tack doors. To lock in an open position, pull the 1/2" diameter steel pin in & insert the catch into the middle hole. Base attaches with 4 screws.

Choice of  stainless steel pin w/ aluminum base or  steel pin w/ zinc/steel base.

Base: 1/1/2" X 3 1/4". Screw centers on ends are 1" apart. Screw centers on length are 1 7/8" apart.

Spring-Loaded Bolt-1/2" diameter pin

Commonly used to secure stock trailer doors. Bolt fits into a hole and can be locked into an open position.  To lock in an open position, pull the 1/2" diameter steel pin in & insert the catch into the middle hole.

4"L X 1 3/4" base. Screw centers are 1 1/2" apart on the length, & 1 1/4" apart on the width.  Attach with four #14 screws, available on the Fastener page.   Zinc-plated steel.
